TNF: Jaguars at the Titans Preview

Week 13’s Thursday night match up sees the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars head to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans, who are still chasing the playoff pack.

The Titans come into this game after an impressive defensive performance against the New York Jets in Week 12 which leaves them sitting at 6-6. The Jaguars sit at 3-8 and their season is pretty much over, but they did manage to also put on a strong defensive performance last week against the Indianapolis Colts with a different QB in the form of Cody Kessler on the field.

Last week Jacksonville’s much talked about defence finally turned up, all be it 12 weeks late, and shut out Andrew Lucks and the on-fire Colts. Myles Jack and Calais Campbell ran the game and though the new look Jags offence didn’t really get going they manged to scrape past the Colts.

The Titans took on one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL, the New York Jets, with Marcus Mariota’s team coming out on top 26-22 but heavily struggled to convert on third down. The Titan’s defence has pretty much been on point all season, this teams’ struggles have predominately been on offence and Mariota’s up and down performances. Though this team has struggled in offensive areas, it is still very much in the playoff race but must start winning and winning now to get in there.

So, this game has all the making of being a defensive slug out and not the high scoring football we’ve been used to seeing this season. Not one for the touchdown lovers. With the pressure being on the Titans and Mariota struggling to convert on third down, it will be close, but I think the Jaguars will be taking the win home tonight.
