TNF: Chargers at the Chiefs Preview

To kick off Week 14 we start off with this HUGE divisional matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs sit 11-2 at the top of the AFC West with QB Patrick Mahomes quite literally running the show. Honestly, google his no look pass from Week 12. They come into this Thursday night game after a hard-fought Overtime win against the number one defence in the form of the Baltimore Ravens. Mahomes has thrown 43 Touchdowns this season and needs only 13 more to break Peyton Manning’s season record, it’s this gunslinging form from the Chiefs QB along with the fastest WR in the game, Tyreek Hill which has put Kansas City in this position with the number one offence in the NFL.

The Los Angeles Chargers sit at 10-3, just behind the Chiefs in the AFC West. Led by stalwart QB Philip Rivers, who is having a very good season on the field, not to mention off it with his 9th child on the way, the Chargers have been impressive this year, with Rivers connection with RB Melvin Gordon key to the good form. With Joey Bosa back, fit and in form the Chargers defence has been stepping up to give Rivers and co the help they need.

This AFC West showdown could have massive implications, with the Chiefs needing to win to keep hold of the divisional top spot and the number one seed in the AFC. The Chargers sit in the wildcard places as it stands but any chance to catch Kansas City must be taken.

This game really has a big bill to live up to, the Chiefs are red hot right now, in my opinion Mahomes is the best QB in the league as it stands, so do I see the Chargers stopping him? No, but this one will be close. With Melvin Gordon likely out I can’t see the Chargers pulling through. Its experience vs youth and on this one, I’m going youth.
