Super Bowl LIII: Preview
Super Bowl Sunday is upon us and the big game is tonight. The AFC Kings, the New England Patriots, take on the NFC’s new champions, the Los Angeles Rams for the ultimate crown in Atlanta.
Bill Belichick has guided the New England Patriots to five Super Bowl wins and is looking to win his sixth today, Tom Brady also is looking for his sixth Super Bowl Championship in what is their ninth, yes ninth Super Bowl appearance for the duo. This is also the Patriots third Super Bowl appearance in a row, they are the only team to ever do this. So, let’s be honest the stacks are high in the Patriots favour. After an up and down season for the Patriots, they came to life in the post season, taking apart the Los Angeles Chargers and MVP Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs on the way, after which Brady admitted he was playing angry “Everybody thinks we suck” and we all know Brady thrives on criticism. The 41-year-old plays lights out in the post season and with a team that’s on his level, with the experience in the roster, the Patriots can never be ruled out, no matter the score.
The Los Angeles Rams or the West Coast new boys in football, come in young, like very young, Head Coach Sean McVay is 33, yes 33, half the age of Belichick. The second year Coach has created a loaded roster and created an offensive juggernaut ready to get after the ever-successful team from Boston. With Jared Goff finally finding his unloaded potential and Todd Gurley destroying defensive lines all over the country, this team is quick and powerful up top. But let’s not forget about the defence, Aaron Donald just won back to back defensive player of the year awards and is going to do is upmost best to be all over Tom Brady come tonight. The task ahead is huge, and inexperience could cost the Rams and yes, they did get here off a blown interference call, but now’s not the time for that. Let’s be real the Patriots have been in the last three Super Bowls and won five over the last 17 years, there’s not much of the world that isn’t rooting for the Rams. Time to end the dynasty?
This matchup is one I truly cannot call, two big time teams on the biggest stage of all, youth takes on experience, old verses new. I won’t lie, I’m going to be supporting the Rams in this, but do I truly believe Tom Brady and the Patriots can be stopped right now, no I don’t.
