Mock Draft 2.0

Mock Draft 2.0

It’s draft day, and there has been a lot going on since my last mock and could be a hell of a lot of trades tonight but I’ve come up with my final pre-draft mock.

1 – Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

Been set in stone since day one and there is no way this change, Jags get their cornerstone QB.

2 – New York Jets: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

They have traded away Sam Darnold, we know they’re going for a QB and they’ve been high on this guy all spring, Wilson goes to New York.

3 – San Francisco 49ers (via Miami): Mac Jones, QB, Alabama

49ers have traded up, put Jimmy Garropolo on the trade block and Jones fits their system perfectly, is a Shanahan type QB. They take Jones to move them forward, with passing ability being his core strength.

4 – Atlanta Falcons: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

The Falcons give Matt Ryan another year and give him the most athletic pass catcher in this draft, if the don’t take Pitts then I can only see them bringing in QB Trey Lance and looking to the future.

5 – Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

No change from my first mock, Bengal’s add more protection for Joe Burrow with the best tackle in the draft. Failing this they could go WR with someone like Ja’Marr Chase.

6 – Miami Dolphins: Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

If he’s still available then this feels like a no brainer, most athletic WR in the draft and would give Tua a go up and get it type receiver that he really needs to push on a develop. I stick with this pick.

7 – Detroit Lions: Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern

Lions could most definitely trade down from this pick for a good amount but if they stay, I have them taking a tackle, protecting Jared Goff and adding new WR’s later in the draft.

8 – Carolina Panthers: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

Panthers desperately need a CB and now that they’re need at QB is filled they’re free to choose, Horn is a little bit raw but has the size and athleticism to start day one.

9 – Denver Broncos: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech

I’m sticking with this pick. The Broncos just brought in Teddy Bridgewater and although there are lots of rumours about them still being high on Justin Fields, I have them sticking and taking the DB Farley. Could trade down if they don’t take a QB though.

10 – Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama

Sticking with this pick too, Cowboys continue to fill out their secondary.

11 – New York Giants: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

I had them taking a WR in my first mock and I’ve stuck with that just changes the player, feel as though Waddle suits their style more and will be a big help to Daniel Jones.

12 – Philadelphia Eagles (via San Fran): DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

The Eagles finally draft a WR here (if the rumours of them trading up aren’t true) and take one with a high ceiling who can hopefully elevate this Eagles offence.

13 – Los Angeles Chargers: Jaelen Philips, Edge, Miami

I’ve flipped this one and have the Chargers taking an edge rusher, to bulk that line and give Joey Bosa a running partner, Philips, though raw, fits the bill well for the Chargers.

14 – Minnesota Vikings: Gregory Rousseau, Edge, Miami

It could be either Miami edge rushers for the Vikings, but I’m sticking with this one to really help Mike Zimmer reinvigorate this defence and bring back some identity.

15 – New England Patriots: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

I believe the Patriots will most likely trade up to make this pick but either way they take a QB and start to move forward as a franchise. A player who needs to learn and grow but can no doubt be special and brings a new look to New England.

16 – Arizona Cardinals: Alijah Vera-Tucker, OG, USC

Its safe to say the Cardinals will go offensive with this pick and there are a lot of rumours of them taking a WR but to be safe I’ve stuck with my pick of them adding protection for Kyler Murray with the best guard in this draft.

17 – Las Vegas Raiders: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

I do think they will have to trade up to get him but I have the Raiders adding this explosive playmaker on their defence and really lead that side of the ball.

18 – Miami Dolphins: Najee Harris, RB, Alabama

There is a lot of possibility that Miami will trade down from this pick to add to their already huge draft capital but if they don’t, I think they will add this huge offensive weapon and one Tua can definitely lean on.

19 – Washington Football Team: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State

There is no way he falls this deep, so to get him they will have to trade up but none the less I have Ron Rivera picking a QB. I had them taking Mac Jones in my last mock but with the 49ers being up at 3, I have Washington taking a more athletic QB to be their leader of the future.

20 – Chicago Bears: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State

Predicting what the Bears will do is a nightmare, so I’m sticking to my guns and have them taking a tackle to protect whoever is under centre for them come September.

21 – Indianapolis Colts: Christian Darrishaw, OT, Virginia Tech

Another stick, the Colts strengthen their O-Line with another tackle.

22 – Tennesee Titans: Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern

The Titans add much needed help their secondary with Newsome, good solid addition.

23 – New York Jets (via Seattle): Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

New York add a weapon for their new QB.

24 – Pittsburgh Steelers: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan

This pick could go anywhere with needs at OT, LB, RB and maybe even QB, but I have them sticking with Big Ben and replacing their O-Line with a solid tackle.

25 – Jacksonville Jaguars (via LA Rams): Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama

Jaguars add some size to their defensive line with Barmore, imperative to bring back Jaguars defences of before.

26 – Cleveland Browns: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa

Sticking with this one, Browns need depth at LB and could have a lot of choice at 26 but I have them taking the versatile Collins.

27 – Baltimore Ravens: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU

If he’s not gone by this point already, then the Ravens get to add a stellar safety to an already exceptional secondary.

28 – New Orleans Saints: Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia

Saints need to fill a huge hole at corner and look to do it here no matter what with either Georgia CB being that Stokes or Tyson Campbell. Take the best corner available, simple.

29 – Green Bay Packers: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota

Packers actually take a receiver, they take a solid, athletic wide out with a lot of size and strength.

30 – Buffalo Bills: Azeez Ojulari, Edge, Georgia

Sticking with this pick and the Bills get a pass rusher to really add another dimension to their defence.

31 – Baltimore Ravens (via Kansas City): Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss

Expect the Ravens to trade down from this pick but if they do choose, I think they take the best WR in front of them, Moore adds size and a lot of strength, something the Ravens offense is calling for.

32 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky

Tampa adds another LB to the best LB group in the NFL, could be any LB left on the board but Davis’s stock has really risen over the last few weeks, so I have Tampa taking him here.
